ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Alcohol Ink is becoming hugely popular due to its colourful, vibrant fluidity. It is suitable for artists of all levels who are willing and excited to ‘go with the flow’. In this Workshop I will show you how to create a variety of alcohol ink artworks using simple tools such as a hair dryer, air brush and hand blower. You will explore pouring, dripping and other techniques to manipulate your ink onto various non-porous substrate including ‘yupo’ paper and ceramic tiles, plus create your own poured design on a ceramic pot. Importantly, you will also learn how to finish off your artwork professionally, ensuring it is fade resistant and protected. |
ABOUT THE ARTIST Donnie Wilkes is a Brisbane based mixed media artist with an extensive 30 year background teaching and practising calligraphy. She began extending her practice to explore new techniques 5 years ago by studying the art of watercolour. In 2022 she exhibited a large series of watercolour and mix media works in a trio Art exhibition, ‘Art & Soul’ at the Petrie Terrace Gallery. More recently, Donnie has discovered a love for the unpredictable fluidity of Alcohol Ink. She is captivated by the vibrancy of the medium and is intrigued by its ability to combine abstraction with precision so as to create dynamic art pieces. Donnie’s artworks reflect her rich and eventful life. The serendipitous qualities of this flowing medium also reflect the beauty of the natural world around her.
