Collage Painting - explore your creative self
Create depth and detail in a painting, the easy way, with mixed-media collage. Learn how to build an embellished painting with collage elements in this three-hour masterclass with artist Rachel Monique Walker. Working with magazine images, photographs and found paper materials, along with paint and pencil, Rachel will show you how to combine a variety of mediums to create both harmony and movement on canvas.
When: Saturday 21 February, 10am to 1pm
Cost: $40 members/$50 non-members
Where: HDG-Artists Studio, 37 Quarry Road, Sherwood.
About the artist
Rachel is a visual artist based in Magandjin, Brisbane. Her collage and craft-based practice explores aesthetics, sustainability and emotion through the manipulation of materials including paper, magazine images and paint. Formally, she is working towards artworks that carry a satisfying tension, that look both old and new: textured and weathered, and yet fresh and innocent. She employs layering, thoughtful composition and nostalgic colour palettes to reach this desired outcome. Rachel loves bringing the art-making process alive in a room; alongside art-making she facilitates creative workshops and mentors people of all ages in creative practice. www.rachelmoniquewalker.com
